The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army has concluded a two-day training programme aimed at enhancing financial management skills and improving service delivery among its officers and soldiers. The training, held from July 29 to 30, 2025, at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess in Lagos, focused on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and digital literacy for personnel of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC) within the division’s area of responsibility.
Acting Commander of 81 Division Finance and Accounts, Lieutenant Colonel Auwal Hussain Muhammad, said the training, themed “Enhancing Proficiency and Accountability in Nigerian Army Financial Services through IPSAS Implementation and Digital Transformation,” was designed to promote transparency, accountability, and compliance with federal government financial policies. He urged participants to embrace modern accounting practices to improve record-keeping and financial reporting.
The Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, represented by Brigadier General C.H. Ajoku, described the programme as a vital platform for updating personnel on current financial policies and global best practices. He emphasised the crucial role of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps in supporting operational effectiveness during both peace and wartime.
Sessions covered topics such as book-keeping under accrual accounting, preparation of trial balances, and awareness of improvised explosive devices to enhance force protection.
The training also aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready force.
Highlights of the event included lecture presentations, interactive discussions, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
