The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, fisn, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents during the upcoming Eid-el-Adha festivities.
In a directive issued to Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun States, as well as commanders of specialized units including the Police Mobile Force, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Special Protection Unit, Counter Terrorist Unit, and others, AIG Fayoade emphasized the need for heightened security measures across various public spaces.
The areas listed for increased surveillance and protection include worship centers, markets, shopping malls, tourist and relaxation centers, highways, motor parks, train stations, bus terminals, and other critical national assets. The AIG also stressed the importance of maintaining free-flowing traffic and ensuring peaceful celebrations without incidents of harassment, violence, or disruption.
While felicitating with the Muslim faithful, AIG Fayoade urged members of the public to go about their celebrations peacefully and to remain security-conscious. He also called for continued collaboration between the police and the public in safeguarding lives and property during the festive period.
