Youth Leadership Takes a Step Forward As Onyeji David Chimbuchi Becomes Rotary District Interact Representative

In a significant development for youth involvement in community service, Onyeji David Chimbuchi of Ikotun Senior High School has been appointed as the new Rotary District Interact Representative for Lagos and Ogun States, under Rotary District 9110. The announcement came during a formal ceremony held at the Rotary District Center, attended by notable figures in education and Rotary leadership.

David, in his heartfelt acceptance speech, highlighted the transformative power of youth engagement in service-oriented activities and expressed his gratitude towards his family, educators, and the Rotary Club of Egbeda for their unwavering support and mentorship. He paid a special tribute to Prince Bashiru Adebowale, the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary District 1 of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, for his invaluable guidance throughout his journey.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, David underscored the essence of finding oneself through the act of service, promising to lead with integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the community. He also acknowledged the Rotaract Club of Egbeda for their visionary leadership and support.

Rotary District 9110 Governor, Rotarian Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, welcomed the attendees and reiterated the Rotary’s dedication to humanitarian service, with a strong focus on uplifting the underprivileged. The event was also graced by the presence of Mrs. Oyelehin A A, Principal of Ikotun Senior High School; Mrs. Abosede Obiakalusi, Matron of the Interact Club at ISHS; and the President of the Rotary Club of Egbeda, Rotarian Lawal, among others.

David’s appointment marks a hopeful new chapter for Rotary District 9110, aiming to inspire more young individuals to take active roles in leadership and community service, thereby shaping a better future for all.
