The Western Naval Command (WNC) of the Nigerian Navy on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, decorated 16 newly promoted officers with their new ranks at a ceremony held at the NNS Beecroft Officers’ Mess in Apapa, Lagos.
The officers were among the 367 naval personnel recently elevated following the Nigerian Navy Board’s approval on June 11, 2025. The promotions included 175 Lieutenants and 192 Sub-Lieutenants across various branches of the Navy.
While addressing the newly promoted officers, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral MG Oamen, congratulated them on their elevation and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to duty. He also encouraged the officers to uphold the Navy’s core values of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
“You must see this promotion as a call to greater responsibility. As you wear your new ranks today, let it be a reminder of the confidence the Nigerian Navy has placed in you,” Rear Admiral Oamen stated.
The ceremony featured group photographs with the FOC, moments of celebration with family and colleagues, and a light refreshments session.
The event reflected the spirit of pride and progress within the Command, as officers marked a new phase in their careers in service to the nation.
