WEMA BANK LAUNCHES ALAT XPLORE: Nigeria’s First Licensed Banking App For Teenagers

Wema Bank, known for its innovation in the Nigerian banking sector, has launched the “ALAT Xplore App”, Nigeria’s first licensed banking app designed specifically for teenagers aged 13 to 17. This groundbreaking initiative aims to equip young people with financial literacy and money management skills, setting the stage for a financially responsible future.

The ALAT Xplore App, introduced as part of the bank’s fully digital platform, ALAT, is a comprehensive tool that combines banking with interactive financial education. Teenagers can learn to manage their savings, spending, and financial goals in a safe and controlled environment. With a user-friendly interface, the app allows teens to explore and customize features while offering three unique debit card designs issued in their names, fostering independence and responsibility.

One of the standout features of the app is its goal-setting functionality, which enables teenagers to set savings targets for personal purchases or charitable causes. The app helps them track progress and provides an engaging experience that makes saving exciting and rewarding.

The ALAT Xplore App also promotes a collaborative relationship between parents and their children. Parents can monitor their teenagers’ spending and guide their financial decisions via the main ALAT App. This ensures a secure environment for teens to explore financial opportunities while parents stay involved in their learning journey.

Here’s how it works:
– Parents or guardians create an ALAT account for their teenager.
– The teenager downloads the ALAT Xplore App, completes the setup, and requests parental permission to use the app.
– Parents grant permission through their ALAT App, giving teenagers access to all features, including debit card requests and savings goal tracking.

The app, officially launching on October 26, 2024, is already available for download on PlayStore and AppStore. It marks a significant step towards revolutionizing how young Nigerians approach financial management, shaping more responsible adults.

For those interested in the virtual launch event, registration is open online.
