Dr. Emmanuel Nweke Okafor, also known as Emma Ezeagbo, has issued a passionate call for unity and vigilance in the ongoing Igweship matters of Nteje-Abogu. Addressing the community, he emphasized the importance of upholding tradition and ensuring that the rightful leadership of the community is maintained.
Dr. Okafor reminded Ndi Nteje of the historical system that governs the Igweship, which rotates among the three major villages of Nteje—Ezi Nteje, Ikenga Nteje, and Ifite Nteje. This system has ensured fairness and equity in the community’s leadership over the years.
He highlighted the contributions of the late Igwe-Abogu II, who hailed from Ikenga Nteje, and served both the community and Anambra State with distinction. According to Dr. Okafor, Igwe Odegbo’s tenure and his eventual passing reaffirmed the established tradition, paving the way for Ifite Nteje to produce the next Igwe.
Dr. Okafor announced that Ifite Nteje has presented HRM, High Chief Christopher Okechukwu Nnebo, as Igwe-Abogu III. He called this transition a period of hope and progress, urging all members of the community to rally around Igwe Nnebo and support him as the rightful leader of Nteje-Abogu.
However, Dr. Okafor expressed concern over alleged attempts to disrupt this process, citing reports of individuals seeking to manipulate the system through legal and political maneuvers. He described such actions as a threat to the unity and harmony of Nteje-Abogu and called on the community to resist these divisive efforts.
Dr. Okafor stressed that Nteje needs both an Igwe and a President-General to thrive politically, spiritually, and traditionally. He urged the community to recognize and support Igwe Nnebo while rejecting any attempts to undermine the transition process.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Okafor appealed to Ndi Nteje to remain vigilant, united, and committed to the progress and peace of the community. He encouraged them to honor the tradition and ensure that Nteje-Abogu continues to thrive as a strong, united, and prosperous community.
