Ubabukoh Family Announces Burial Plans For Veteran Journalist

The Ubabukoh family of Ngo Village in Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, has revealed the burial arrangements for their beloved patriarch, Mr. Ifeanyi John Ubabukoh, a veteran journalist who passed away on February 14, 2024.

Mr. Ubabukoh, a distinguished columnist and former Chairman of the Editorial Board at Champion Newspapers, left an indelible mark on the Nigerian journalism landscape. His illustrious career included stints at prominent media outlets such as The Mail, National Concord, and New Nation, where his exceptional talent and dedication were widely recognized and rewarded.

After retiring from Champion Newspapers, Mr. Ubabukoh served as Senior Special Assistant on Communication to former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, from June 2009 to June 2012, contributing significantly to the state’s communication strategy during his tenure.

In accordance with the family’s statement, a Service of Songs will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Mr. Ubabukoh’s residence in Ngo Village. The following day, Thursday, April 25, his remains will be transported from Apex Mortuary, Igbo-Ukwu, for lying-in-state at his compound in Ngo. The funeral service is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., with interment taking place at noon at Ubabukoh’s compound.

Mr. Ozioma Ubabukoh, son of the deceased and Principal Consultant at Plexus Media Interlinks, expressed his family’s gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences received. He described his late father as a man of engaging wit, humility, and generosity, lamenting that his passing occurred when his wealth of knowledge and experience was most needed.

The late Mr. Ubabukoh is survived by his wife, children, siblings, grandchildren, and other relatives. An Outing Service in his honor will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Igbo-Ukwu.

The announcement of Mr. Ubabukoh’s burial plans marks a moment of reflection and remembrance for his family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community, as they prepare to bid farewell to a cherished figure in Nigerian journalism.
