UBA Foundation Illuminates Marina With Festive Cheer For Yuletide Season


United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Africa’s leading global bank, commenced the yuletide season with a vibrant ceremony filled with fireworks and enchanting Christmas carols at the UBA Foundation Garden in Marina, Lagos.

The event, graced by staff, customers, and members of the public, marked the beginning of a joyous festive season. UBA Foundation, the bank’s corporate social responsibility arm, initiated the celebration to spread cheer and touch the lives of its customers and communities where it operates.

The UBA Foundation Garden Light-Up Ceremony and Carol Evening, held on Tuesday, witnessed staff and customers coming together to share hope and sing carols, symbolizing the onset of the Christmas and year-end celebrations.

During the ceremony, UBA’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba, joined by other management staff, ceremoniously illuminated the Head Office and the UBA Foundation Garden. Alawuba emphasized the bank’s commitment to illuminating the lives of people and communities, remarking on UBA’s role as a beacon of light within the financial sector across the continent and beyond.

Alawuba stated, “We are here to officially herald the season. UBA has been a guiding light in the financial sector, and we will persist in spreading light and joy wherever we go. This is a symbolic moment for us, an opportunity to express our gratitude to the staff and customers who have contributed to our successes this year. At UBA, our focus is on spreading love and fostering hope.”

The Light-Up ceremony featured captivating Christmas carol renditions by UBA’s Customer Fulfilment Centre Choir, accompanied by a delightful guided tour around the exquisite UBA Foundation Garden. Attendees were treated to an array of refreshments.

Addressing the essence of the annual event, UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, emphasized the bank’s commitment to environmental aesthetics. “UBA values its environment and takes corporate responsibility seriously. We’ve taken it upon ourselves to enhance our surroundings and add vibrancy, especially as the year draws to a close.”

Ladipo added, “We aim to convey the message that every life matters. We hope, as always, to bring smiles and offer a glimmer of hope during this special season.”
