TRIBUTE: Celebrating Bola Oyebamiji’s Transformational Leadership On His Birthday

Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been celebrated for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public service as he marks his birthday.

Described as a man of humility, generosity, and dedication, Oyebamiji has consistently used his influence to uplift communities and support the less privileged. His journey in public service, which began in 2012, has been characterized by transformational leadership and a positive impact across all sectors he has served.

As the Managing Director of Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL) from 2012 to 2017, Oyebamiji revitalized the agency, increasing its valuation from ₦300 million to ₦3 billion. This impressive performance earned him the position of Osun State Commissioner for Finance in 2017, where he managed state finances with precision and transparency.

In 2023, Oyebamiji was appointed MD/CEO of NIWA, where he has already achieved significant milestones within a year. Following a detailed performance bond signed with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, he has repositioned NIWA for efficiency and growth, further cementing his reputation as a transformational leader.

Before joining public service, Oyebamiji had a stellar career in banking, beginning at Wema Bank in 1989. Over the years, he rose through the ranks at various financial institutions, including Trans International Bank, Spring Bank, and Enterprise Bank, where he headed the Retail Business Unit. His expertise spans business development, finance, and risk management.

Oyebamiji’s educational background is equally impressive. Hailing from Ikire in Osun State, he attended ADC Primary School, Ayedaade Grammar School, and The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he earned OND and HND qualifications in Banking and Finance. His academic achievements include master’s degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration from Lagos State University and the University of Ado-Ekiti, respectively.

He is a Fellow of several professional organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, and the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals.

Omipidan, a journalist and former Chief Press Secretary to the Osun State Governor, commended Oyebamiji for his unwavering support and resourcefulness during their time in government. “As Commissioner for Finance, he ensured timely release of funds for my office, enabling me to excel in my duties. His loyalty, competence, and dedication remain unmatched,” Omipidan noted.

### A Vision for Greater Heights
As he continues his journey at NIWA, Oyebamiji has been advised to stay focused, avoid distractions, and uphold his legacy of excellence. “Your performance at NIWA can pave the way for higher challenges, just as your previous roles recommended you for this one. I pray for Allah’s continued blessings upon you and your family,” Omipidan added.

On this special occasion, stakeholders and colleagues alike celebrate Oyebamiji as a beacon of transformational leadership and integrity. His contributions to public service serve as a model for others, and expectations remain high for his continued impact at NIWA and beyond.
