TRIBUNAL VICTORY: Ogirrua of Irrua Hails Tribunal Ruling, Congratulates Governor Okpebholo

The Ogirrua of Irrua Kingdom and Okaijesan of Esan Land, His Royal Highness, Alhaji W.O. Momodu II, JP, CON, has congratulated the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, on their victory at the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

In a statement issued by the Assistant Secretary of the Irrua Traditional Council and Enakhe of Irrua Kingdom, High Chief Chris Igene, Ph.D., the royal father described the tribunal’s verdict as a well-deserved victory that affirms the people’s mandate and further strengthens the government’s resolve to serve the state with renewed dedication.

“We, the Irrua Traditional Council of Chiefs, extend our warm congratulations to you and your deputy on your victory at the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal,” the statement read. “We acknowledge your boldness and commitment to the people of Edo State, and we are confident that this victory will further inspire your selfless service for the progress of our dear state.”

The traditional ruler also lauded Governor Okpebholo’s efforts in preserving cultural values and fostering unity across communities, expressing the Council’s readiness to continue partnering with the state government to promote peace, development, and prosperity in Edo State.

Calling for unity and reconciliation, the Ogirrua urged all stakeholders, including those who contested the tribunal’s judgment, to set aside political differences and work collectively towards a more prosperous Edo State.

“We call on all stakeholders to embrace peace and join hands with His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to ensure progressive development in our state. We wish you a successful and impactful tenure, and we pray that our ancestors and God Almighty guide and protect you as you lead Edo to greater heights,” he added.

The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, had on Wednesday upheld the victory of Governor Okpebholo in the September 2, 2024 governorship election, declaring him the authentic winner of the poll.
