The daughter of prominent transport magnate ABC, Ihuoma Julia Nneji, has decried her recent declaration as “wanted” by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), stating that she was neither informed, invited, nor contacted by law enforcement before the action was taken.

Nneji, 34, expressed her dismay over the development during the weekend, noting that the police failed to notify her or her legal representatives of any petition or investigation prior to issuing a Special Police Gazette Bulletin which detailed allegations of criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking against her.

In a detailed statement, the embattled daughter of the businessman denied all allegations, insisting that she had never defamed, blackmailed, or cyberbullied anyone either through her verified social media pages or any other platforms. Instead, she accused her former fiancé, Henry Uzochukwu, of being the architect of an orchestrated campaign of harassment, blackmail, and defamation against her.

Narrating her ordeal, Nneji disclosed that she met Uzochukwu in April 2024, and plans were made for their wedding scheduled for November 2024. However, she said she called off the marriage after discovering incriminating information regarding his sexuality, which he allegedly hid from her.

“After uncovering evidence that raised serious questions about his sexuality and honesty, I decided it was no longer in my best interest to proceed with the marriage,” she stated.

Following the breakup, Nneji alleged that Uzochukwu resorted to threats, harassment, and an extensive online smear campaign against her. She further claimed that he sponsored defamatory posts and videos on various social media platforms and blogs through popular online figures such as VeryDarkMan (VDM) and Kemi Olunloyo, using private information, pictures, and messages sourced from his own phone to malign her reputation.

Nneji also revealed that she had instituted a civil suit against Uzochukwu at the High Court of Abuja, accusing him of defamation and harassment. Despite the ongoing litigation, she alleged that Uzochukwu continued to sponsor malicious publications aimed at tarnishing her image.

“Since I called off the wedding, I have been falsely slandered, threatened, defamed, and cyberbullied numerous times by Henry and his brother Stanley,” she said, adding that multiple individuals had informed her of negotiations between the Uzochukwu brothers and social media influencers to perpetuate the alleged blackmail.

On the police action, Nneji emphasized that she had no prior knowledge of any petition against her, nor was she invited for questioning before being declared wanted. She accused her ex-fiancé of manipulating law enforcement through “backdoor connections” to intensify the harassment.

“I have not committed any crime that warrants me being declared wanted. This is purely an attempt to subdue me and discredit my family name,” she lamented.

She maintained that the allegations circulating online were baseless and that the real issue remained the harassment and threats she had endured since ending her relationship with Uzochukwu.

As at press time, efforts to reach Henry Uzochukwu for his reaction were unsuccessful.
