The new Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major General Adamu Dauda, on Wednesday reaffirmed the commitment of the service to training as the bedrock of professionalism.

Dauda said this on assumption of office as the new Commander of Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Abalti Barracks, Lagos.

Hybrid Online News Nigeria reports that Dauda took over from the outgone Commander, Major General Omotomilola Akintade.

“The Department of Operations and Training has been split into two, giving further prominence to training because training is the bedrock of professionalism.

“In the past, training has suffered because we have seen more emphasis on Operations,” he said.

The commander, therefore, advised officers to recreate themselves towards improving training for more results in the field.

“To win battles requires serious work and to win battles invariably requires enormous cooperation, planning and dedication to duty.

“So, I expect everyone to please redouble their efforts towards ensuring that we move Nigerian Army Ordnance to the next level,” Dauda said.

The new Commander promised to leverage on the success recorded in the Ordnance during the tenure of his predecessor (Akintade).

“Therefore, I solicit for the unflinching loyalty of my officers, first to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and then, the Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps.

“I urge us to work together as a team just as you did with my predecessor to succeed towards achieving those lofty goals that the Chief of Army Staff has set.

“I thank God almighty for making this day possible and also thank the Chief of Army Staff for appointing me as the core commander of the Nigerian Army Ordnance,” he said.
