Tin-Can Island Port Command Decorates Promoted Officers, Comptroller Onyeka Urges Dedication

In line with the recent promotions within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Tin-Can Island Port (TCIP) Command, led by Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, decorated newly promoted officers on Friday. The event, held at the Command headquarters, was part of the ongoing wave of recognitions across the Service.

Comptroller Onyeka, who was recently decorated in Abuja on January 22, congratulated the officers and acknowledged their hard work. Speaking before the decorations, he said, “Promotion comes from God only. For those who have been promoted, congratulations. For those who have not, your time to shine and be promoted will come.”

The Comptroller also emphasized the NCS’s commitment to achieving its objectives, particularly revenue generation, integrity, and compliance with Nigeria’s customs laws. He highlighted the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which prioritizes the welfare and happiness of officers. “We want to generate revenue without any kind of blemish and engage everyone who will aid us in achieving this and other objectives. I urge all officers to remain dedicated and committed to the principles guiding the Service,” he stated.

Due to other pressing engagements, Comptroller Onyeka delegated the decoration exercise to Deputy Comptroller of Administration, Samuel Ariyibi. The DC personally began the ceremony by decorating newly promoted Chief Superintendent of Customs and Staff Officer, O. A. Olatunji.

Over 20 officers, from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs II to Assistant Comptroller of Customs, were decorated during the event. Many of the officers were accompanied by their families, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the milestone.

In his remarks, Deputy Comptroller Ariyibi encouraged the newly promoted officers to remain committed to their duties and continue giving their best to the Service and the nation.

The event highlighted the NCS’s dedication to recognizing excellence and inspiring officers to contribute meaningfully to the Service’s goals.
