In a remarkable act of compassion, Sir Paul Chukwuma, the APC gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming Anambra State election and Founder of Olivia University in Bujumbura, Burundi, paid a heartwarming visit to the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu. His visit brought joy and renewed hope to the children as he generously settled the school fees of 24 children for the current term.

Sir Paul, popularly known as “Onwa Umueri”, was accompanied by his team of advisers, associates, and assistants during the visit. He reassured the staff, management, and children of his continued support and pledged to relocate the orphanage to a permanent and more suitable site by December 2024. This promise was received with gratitude and enthusiasm by the home’s management.

As a staunch advocate for education and community welfare, Sir Paul expressed his commitment to improving the lives of sickle cell patients. He emphasized the importance of fully implementing the Anambra State Sickle Cell Disease (Control & Eradication) Law if elected as governor, describing it as a critical step in addressing the sickle cell scourge in the state.

Aisha Edward Maduagwu, the National Coordinator of the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) and Director of the orphanage, expressed deep gratitude for Sir Paul’s contributions and his promise to relocate the home. “Your promise to relocate the orphanage has lifted our spirits,” she said, praising his humility and dedication to the underprivileged.

This emotional visit was particularly meaningful for the children, many of whom had never met their long-term benefactor in person. Aside from settling school fees, Sir Paul is known for regularly donating cows to improve the nutritional intake of the children, ensuring they have the necessary protein for their health and immunity.

The event concluded with prayers led by a Catholic priest from Sir Paul’s entourage, invoking blessings and protection for Sir Paul and his mission. The orphanage community expressed their heartfelt prayers for Sir Paul’s success, not only in his career but also in his gubernatorial ambition.
