Seme Customs Command Intercepts Illicit Drugs Concealed In A Tipper Truck Carrying Sharp Sand


In what security stakeholders tagged as “reward of meticulous surveillance and operational discipline”, Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has outsmarted an illicit drug smuggling syndicates, who hitherto have been carrying out their nefarious activities through the concealment of Indian hemp and other illicit drugs in tipper trucks loaded with sharp sand.

This feat of turning the tide against smuggling, was said to have been achieved based on credible intelligence, that led to the interception of a tipper truck in the early hours of Tuesday 29th June,2021,  suspected to be carrying smuggled Cannabis Sativa along Seme-Badagry road.

According to the Commands Spokesperson ASC 1, Hussaini Abdullahi, after careful examination, the vehicle was found to contain Forty One sacks containing Three Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Six parcels of Cannabis Sativa, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Ninety One Million, Four Hundred and Eighty Eight thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Seven Naira (N91,488,977.00).

While, commending the gallant officers and men of the Command for the remarkable achievement, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bello Mohammad JIBO, urged officers to sustain the tempo with a view to fighting smuggling within nooks and crannies of the Command in whatever form.

He urged officers to always collaborate with the host community in ensuring a harmonious relation to achieve more results.

Comptroller Jibo, therefore called on the General Public to cooperate with NCS, to enable his Operatives to  continue the implementation of Federal government policies aimed at generating revenue, improve economy, provide professional and quality service that would enhance development to the country.
