Security stakeholders and senior police officers gathered on Friday to honor the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Tunji Disu, with a grand send-forth dinner in Abuja.

The event, held at Chida Hotel, brought together heads of various security organizations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to celebrate Disu’s leadership and contributions to policing in the city.

During the ceremony, security leaders commended AIG Disu for his efforts in enhancing security and simplifying policing strategies, noting that his tenure saw a significant decline in crime rates across the territory.

In his appreciation speech, AIG Disu expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for entrusting him with the FCT Command, as well as to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, officers of the command, his family, and friends. He attributed his success to the teamwork and dedication of his officers.

“The only thing I did was leadership; the officers of the command did the job and did it very well. All the achievements attributed to me were not personally done by me but by the joint efforts of the officers of the FCT command, and I appreciate them for the wonderful job,” Disu stated.

Acknowledging the risks associated with policing, he highlighted the sacrifices made by officers, revealing that 140 police personnel lost their lives last year while combating crime.

He further emphasized the importance of parental guidance in crime prevention, urging families to instill strong values in their children to help reduce the burden on law enforcement agencies.
