The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, on June 1, 2025, took his ongoing security advocacy campaign to Achalla community in Awka North Local Government Area. He paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Igwe Ositadimma Sunny Nwokedi, Eze Oranyelu I of Achalla Kingdom, as part of efforts to foster dialogue and promote peace and public safety.
During the visit, the Police Commissioner emphasized the importance of community collaboration in addressing security challenges and disclosed plans to adopt Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms to bring stakeholders in the community together. He also highlighted the need to unite against the common enemies threatening peace and security in the state.
Noting the unique geographical layout of Achalla community, CP Orutugu urged the indigenes to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives to deny criminal elements the opportunity to operate within their environment.
In response, Igwe Ositadimma Sunny Nwokedi expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the Commissioner’s proactive security engagement. The traditional ruler assured of his readiness to support the police and other security agencies in ensuring peace and stability in Achalla.
Also present during the visit were several palace officials and dignitaries, including Bar Patrick Neorah, Secretary to the Igwe-in-Council; Engr Ken Odezulu, Ochi War; and Ozo Chinedu Okadigbo, Public Relations Officer of the Igwe-in-Council, among others.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to community partnership as a key strategy for building trust and improving security across the state.
