Security chiefs in Anambra State held a high-level closed-door meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025, to fine-tune security arrangements ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the state on Wednesday, May 8.

The meeting, which lasted five hours, brought together top commanders from various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Also present was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (Rtd).

According to a statement by the Anambra State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the session featured detailed briefings, intelligence sharing, and reviews of threat assessments.

“Discussions centered on joint operational deployment, coordinated patrols, surveillance strategies, and contingency preparedness to ensure a secure environment for the presidential visit,” Ikenga said.

The strategy includes intensified security presence within Awka, the state capital, and at key locations statewide, with a focus on inter-agency collaboration and rapid response plans.

This proactive security framework, the statement noted, is aimed at safeguarding the President, accompanying dignitaries, and residents, while maintaining law and order throughout the state.

President Tinubu is expected to commission key projects and hold stakeholder engagements during his visit to the Light of the Nation.
