Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Named Maritime Vision’s Person of The Year 2024

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has been honored as the Maritime Vision Person of the Year 2024, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to governance and his transformative impact on Rivers State.

The editorial board of Maritime Vision magazine selected Governor Fubara for his remarkable courage in addressing adversity and shaping key developments in the state. Among the notable contenders for the prestigious award were Senator Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio, President of the 10th National Assembly, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD.

Governor Fubara’s tenure has been marked by equitable distribution of infrastructure and road projects, decisive actions to dismantle entrenched power structures in the state, and a steadfast commitment to improving the welfare of Rivers people. These achievements underscore his dedication to advancing the state and fostering good governance.

Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, lauded Governor Fubara’s achievements, describing him as a “young, resilient, humble, irreplaceable, and greater fighter” for the people of Rivers State. He further stated that Fubara’s performance in his first year surpasses those of his predecessors.

Born on January 28, 1975, in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Governor Fubara is a former Accountant General of Rivers State and a distinguished technocrat. His leadership and vision continue to position Rivers State for excellence, earning him recognition both within and beyond the maritime sector.

The award, a testament to his dedication and resilience, validates Governor Fubara’s significant contributions to governance and the development of Rivers State.
