On March 4, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, paid a visit to Onitsha to evaluate the security deployment and engage with shuttle drivers operating along Upper Iweka Road. The purpose of the visit was to oversee the return of commercial activities in the area.

During his interaction with shuttle drivers, CP Adeoye conveyed positive news, announcing the lifting of the curfew in Nnewi, Onitsha, and Ogbaru by the State Government. He urged the drivers to adhere to the law, maintain vigilance, and promptly report any criminal activities to the nearest police station. In case of emergencies, they were advised to contact the Command Control room at *07039194332* or reach out to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) at *08039334002* for immediate assistance.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of citizens’ cooperation, stating, “In doing this, you exhibit an act of patriotism to the nation, and in return, your safety becomes our responsibility.” This call for collaboration aims to foster a secure environment as commercial activities resume.

As the region prepares to get back to business on Monday, CP Adeoye’s visit and reassurance underscore the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The lifting of the curfew signifies a step towards normalcy, with the police urging residents and businesses to contribute actively to the overall security of the area.
