On February 20, 2025, Rear Admiral MG Oamen, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, where he was warmly hosted by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General FU Mijinyawa.
During the visit, Rear Admiral Oamen emphasized the strategic importance of the 81 Division in ensuring the operational success of the Western Naval Command, particularly in relation to joint military operations in the region. He praised the GOC and the division’s units for their unwavering support and contributions to the ongoing Operation AWATSE, noting their critical role in maintaining peace and security, especially in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic heart.
In his response, Major General Mijinyawa extended congratulations to Rear Admiral Oamen on his appointment as FOC West and reassured him of the 81 Division’s continued collaboration and support for Operation AWATSE.
He expressed confidence in the collective efforts of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and other security agencies to further strengthen security in the region.
