The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Micheal Gregory Oamen, on February 25, 2025, received the Head of Lagos Operations for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Adeleye Ajayi , and his management team at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos.

During the visit, Mr. Ajayi emphasized the need for a strategic partnership between NAN and the Western Naval Command to enhance accurate reporting of the Command’s objectives and achievements. He noted that a deeper understanding of naval operations would enable NAN to effectively communicate the Command’s activities to the public.

In his response, Rear Admiral Oamen expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the crucial role of the media in modern military operations.

He assured the NAN team of the Command’s commitment to fostering a strong relationship with the agency to ensure responsible and accurate media engagement. The FOC WEST also highlighted the importance of curbing misinformation to enhance national security and public confidence in maritime security operations.
