Earlier this week, it came to our notice that a certain faceless individual who operates a pseudo Facebook profile, in the name of Stanley Ikenna Azuka, took to social media to circulate brazen falsehood about Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, the APC candidate for Aguata Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, whom he claimed would be summoned to a meeting on Tuesday, 28th June, 2022 by the National Chairman of APC, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and persuaded to step down for Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji whom he also claimed would in turn relinquish the APC ticket for Anambra South Senatorial district to a certain person whom the mischief maker referred to as “onye edemede”.

The false news created by this lunatic fringe clearly targets to malign the character and integrity of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo whose supporters cried out against such obscenity when promoters of false news began to circulate the atrocious fabrication on Facebook and WhatsApp.

Although the reading public and party faithfuls who followed up have understood there’s no element of veracity in the fake news attributed to Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, we feel compelled to vigorously denounce the machinations of that idle mind whose only stock-in-trade is to spread falsehood, assassinate the character of eminent people and stoke the embers of wickedness and calumny.

We make bold to state that Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo was not invited to any meeting by the APC NWC led by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and no such meeting, involving Hon. Umeoji and any other party was held in Abuja. This falsehood attributed to Engr. Onunkwo – we reiterate – is the work of a sick, cowardly mind that is ashamed, or lack the courage, as the saying goes, to answer his father’s name. The rabble-rouser who goes by the pseudonym, Ikenna Stanley Azuka, leads a sick brigade of identity thieves and addicts of falsehood who derive joy in tarnishing people’s image.

We strongly believe that it is unconscionable and evil for an individual to wear a mask behind a phone screen for the purpose of destroying the good reputation that innocent people have built over the years. Hence, we have resolved that the person behind the mask, Stanley Ikenna Azuka, must be unmasked. A very handsome reward awaits any individual who would volunteer useful information that would lead to his unmasking.

Normally, one should totally ignore social dregs like this. However, in the present atmosphere where fake news is so easily swallowed and acted upon without reflection, we feel once again obliged to denounce this recurrent obscenity. We also wish to state that Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo remains the candidate of APC for Aguata Federal Constituency election and has not been approached by humans or ghosts to step aside for anybody. He is busy making preparations to mobilise support from the youth, women and people of Aguata, in order to ensure electoral victory for APC in Aguata.

It is necessary to state, at this point, that Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has never collected a dime from any individual or group, in any form, despite the approach in the immediate past gubernatorial primary and the aftermath.

It is time also, we believe, to enter the admonition that one cannot continue to monitor and respond to the concoctions of these addicts of falsehood, and their recalcitrant promoters who have refused to give up their dark and filthy ways. We encourage users of social media platforms to develop the art of discrimination because some attributions/concoctions are simply so gross that, to grant them even a moment’s latitude of probability diminishes the civic intelligence of the recipient.
