The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the commencement of the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) interview for Inspectors due for promotion to the rank of unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP II). The promotion exercise, set to begin on Monday, May 19, 2025, will take place simultaneously across all 17 Police Zonal Command Headquarters nationwide.
According to a press release signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, the interview will be jointly supervised by the Commission and senior Police officers to ensure transparency and credibility throughout the process.
The release stated that PSC Commissioners are also expected to monitor the exercise in their respective geo-political zones to uphold the integrity of the promotion process.
Chairman of the Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, mni, emphasized that the exercise must not be viewed as a “do-or-die” affair. He warned that any attempt to compromise the process will be met with strict disciplinary action.
DIG Argungu reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that promotions in the Nigeria Police Force are strictly based on merit and the availability of vacancies. He further advised all officers appearing for the interview to prepare thoroughly and earn their advancement through performance.
“The Commission is committed to building a new police culture founded on merit, competence, and innovation, particularly in this era of intelligence-led policing,” he said.
The PSC urged candidates to trust the process and contribute to a smooth, credible, and professional promotion exercise.
