The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the approval of the appointment of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) Frank Mba and Bala Ciroma as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs). The decision was made during the 21st Plenary Meeting of the Commission, presided over by its Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, retired Inspector General of Police.
DIG Ciroma will be taking over from DIG Ali Janga, who has retired from service, representing the North East geo-political zone in the Police Management team. Meanwhile, DIG Mba will replace retired DIG John Amadi as the representative for the South East zone.
Additionally, the Commission has approved the promotion of 14 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), and 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of Commissioners (CPs).
The newly appointed AIGs are CP Abubakar Lawal, CP Alhassan Aminu, CP Abdul Umar, CP Shettima Zannah, CP Ebong Eyibio Ebong, CP Adepoju Ayiinde Ilori, and CP Okon Okon Effiong. Others include CP Echeng Eworo Echeng, CP Susan Ukpanukiema Horsfall, CP Bankole Lanre Sikiru, CP Oladimeji Yomi Olarewaju, CP Sani Gwarzo, and CP Odama Paul Ojeka.
The 22 DCPs promoted to the rank of CPs are DCP Abibo Deinma Reuben, DCP Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, DCP Wakil Abdul Salamai, DCP Enyinnaya Inonachi, DCP Ronke Nurat Okunade, DCP Adekunle Ismail Olusokan, DCP Hassan Abdu Yabnet, DCP Festus Chinedu Oko, DCP Aminu Baba Raji, DCP Omolara Ibidun Oluntola, DCP Akoh Benedict Gabriel, DCP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, DCP Bafda Magaji Jahun, DCP Ahmadu Tijani Abdullahi, and DCP Mohammed Mu’azu. Others include DCP Bretet Emmanuel Simon, DCP Ihebom M Chukuma, DCP Shettima Mohammed Qurtu, DCP Olatokunbo Maxwell Olabisi, DCP Yusuf Mohammed Lawal, DCP Monica Leo, and DCP Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi.
Furthermore, the Commission approved the promotion of twenty-four Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), as well as the promotion of 39 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). The newly promoted officers underwent an interactive session before the Commission in Plenary.
During the Plenary Meeting, the Commission also approved a new Instrument of Delegation regarding delegated powers to the Inspector General of Police.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, Chairman Dr. Solomon Arase urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of their country. He expressed his commitment to ensuring regular police promotions to prevent officers from stagnating in any rank. Dr. Arase also commended the dedication and sacrifice of other Commission members, emphasizing that a new and brighter future is on the horizon for the Nigeria Police Force.
