PSC Appoints AIG Ari Mohammed Ali As New Deputy Inspector General of Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Ari Mohammed Ali as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), replacing DIG Ade Ayuba, who recently retired. The appointment was announced during an emergency management meeting presided over by the PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu.

AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, who hails from Nasarawa State in Nigeria’s North Central region, previously served as the AIG in charge of Zone One, Kano. His new role maintains regional representation within the Police leadership, as DIG Ayuba also hailed from the North Central zone.

In his address, PSC Chairman Argungu emphasized the need for professionalism and a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption in the Nigerian Police Force. “The new PSC is committed to building a police force that is a pride of the Nigerian people—free of corruption but full of vigor and determination to serve,” he stated.

Argungu assured DIG Ali of the Commission’s support, urging him to align with the Commission’s vision of a professional and accountable police force. He reiterated the PSC’s dedication to partnering with the Police to ensure the safety of lives and property while dismantling crime across the nation.

Honorable Commissioner DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission, also congratulated the newly appointed DIG. They pledged the Commission’s continued support for his success in his new role.

DIG Ari Mohammed Ali’s appointment underscores the PSC’s commitment to fostering a more accountable and efficient Police Force, reinforcing its primary duty of safeguarding lives and property in Nigeria.
