Renowned cleric and philanthropist, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, has declared his intention to contest the Lagos State Governorship election in 2027. Prophet Ikuru, leader of the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry and a Lagos resident for over 27 years, made this announcement during a press briefing, citing his grassroots experience and commitment to serving the people of Lagos.

Prophet Ikuru, known for his philanthropic contributions to vulnerable communities and youth empowerment, expressed confidence in his ability to address the state’s pressing challenges. He stated, “Lagos State deserves a leader with a heart for the people, a vision for progress, and the courage to make difficult decisions. By God’s grace, I am ready to take on this responsibility.”

Highlighting his history of accurate political predictions, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2023 victory and the elections of governors in multiple states, Prophet Ikuru emphasized his readiness to shift from supporting leaders to actively governing.

His platform will focus on tackling issues such as traffic congestion, housing deficits, youth unemployment, and healthcare, while promoting inclusivity and transparency in governance. He also plans to bridge the gap between the government and the people to foster trust and collaboration.

The announcement has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters lauding his vision and critics questioning his transition from religious leadership to politics. Prophet Ikuru, however, remains undeterred, insisting that his deep connection with Lagosians and practical approach will resonate with voters.

As the 2027 elections approach, all eyes will be on Prophet Ikuru’s next moves, including his choice of party affiliation and campaign strategies. His declaration has undoubtedly injected a fresh dynamic into the political landscape of Lagos, sparking conversations about the intersection of faith and governance.
