President Bola Tinubu Sacks Jime, Appoints New CEOs For Shippers’ Council, NIWA

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Akutah Pius Ukeyima as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), while Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji takes the helm as the Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

These appointments, disclosed in a statement by the President’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday, are in alignment with the recommendations of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Mr. Akutah Ukeyima, a graduate in Law and a holder of a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, assumes his role as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council. His recent position as the Head of the Central Authority Unit in International Cooperation in Criminal Matters at the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation attests to his expertise and experience.

On the other hand, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is a distinguished graduate in Banking and Finance and holds advanced degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration. With an extensive background in economics and more than 28 years of industry experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the public service. Oyebamiji’s notable accomplishments include steering the Osun State Investment Company Limited in a positive direction before serving as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance for a commendable eight years.

President Bola Tinubu has entrusted these newly appointed officials with the crucial task of faithfully implementing the policies and programs outlined by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy. The objective is to expedite and efficiently achieve enhanced revenues and investments in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s Blue Economy strategy.

“These appointments signal the government’s commitment to advancing the maritime and inland waterways sector, with an emphasis on promoting economic growth and the Blue Economy’s strategic goals” the statement read.
