Brito Sporting Club of Portugal, a football team established in 1956, has officially signed Yaqub Usman-Malah, a 19-year-old Nigerian-born footballer with remarkable promise. The unveiling ceremony took place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the talented young athlete.
Yaqub, born in Nigeria in 2006, honed his skills at the Brooke College Football Academy in the United Kingdom before joining the Portuguese club. At Brooke College, he demonstrated exceptional performance, scoring 17 goals in 32 matches and completing 2,270 minutes of play without injuries across 116 training days.
Tomasz Wasylik, the lead coach of Yaqub’s Under-17B team at Brooke College, praised him as a role model for his peers, citing his professionalism, work ethic, and tactical versatility. “Yaqub is a technically gifted player who can excel in multiple positions on the field. He stood out in National School Cup competitions during the 2023/2024 season,” Wasylik said.
Yaqub’s transition to Brito Sporting Club has generated high expectations.
