Police Sustain Raid Operations In Awka, Arrest Three Suspects, Recover Firearm, Hard Drugs

In a bid to enhance safety and security in the state capital, Police Operatives attached to the B Division of the Anambra State Police Command have conducted a successful raid operation, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a locally made firearm and other incriminating items.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of April 29th, 2025, targeted an uncompleted building located in Iyiagu Estate, Awka. Acting on credible intelligence, the police operatives stormed the premises, leading to the apprehension of three male suspects: Paulinus Nkuda, Nwankwo Emmanuel, and Nwadede Godspower.

During the raid, law enforcement officers recovered one locally made revolver pistol and substances suspected to be hard drugs. The arrested suspects have reportedly stated that the recovered pistol belongs to one Chukwuebuka, also known as “Nwa Onitsha,” whose second name remains unknown.

A manhunt has been intensified to apprehend the said Chukwuebuka. The suspects and the recovered items have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping/Rapid Response Unit of the Command for further investigation.

The Anambra State Police Command has assured residents that this operation is a demonstration of their commitment to enhancing safety and security within the state capital.

The police aim to achieve this by proactively targeting potential criminal hideouts and hotspots, preventing crimes, and reassuring the public of their safety.
