The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Lagos, has announced the appointment of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ovie Kenneth Ewhubare as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), effective Monday, April 7, 2025. He takes over from Superintendent of Police Eyitayo Johnson.
The appointment was confirmed in a press release issued by the Unit on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
DSP Ovie Kenneth, a law graduate and alumnus of the First Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, brings with him a wealth of experience and professional training. He has attended several specialized courses, including Investigative Interviewing Skills by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Communication Tools and Awareness Creation on the Police Act by International Alert, and a Combat Operations Course at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ila-Orangun.
His career spans several key roles across the Force, including Staff Officer at the Police Public Relations Department (PPRD) and Second in Command at the Police Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) at Force Headquarters, Abuja. He has also served as Sectional Commander of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Imo State, Officer-in-Charge of Surveillance at the Central Police Station in Abuja, and Operations Officer at Lugbe Divisional Headquarters, FCT Command.
According to the statement, DSP Ovie’s appointment reflects the commitment of the Force Public Relations Department to enhancing transparency, communication, and public engagement.
He is expected to maintain the open-door policy of his predecessor and foster strong collaboration with stakeholders and members of the public.
