Police Service Commission Strengthens Bonds With Nigeria Police Force

In a significant display of unity and cooperation, the Police Service Commission (PSC) welcomed the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, and his team to the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. Led by Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the PSC and retired Inspector General of Police, the meeting marked a milestone in stabilizing the relationship between the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.

Dr. Arase emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two institutions in ensuring the nation’s internal security. He acknowledged past challenges but reassured that with concerted efforts, they were not insurmountable. Calling for support from the Police Management Team, he stressed the need for adaptable strategies and improved engagement.

Highlighting the necessity of unified legal efforts to protect police officers in the line of duty, Dr. Arase urged joint action to prevent adverse judgments affecting the Commission’s accounts.

In response, IGP Egbetokun commended Dr. Arase’s leadership, expressing gratitude for his continued guidance and collaboration. He affirmed the Police Force’s commitment to fostering a more robust partnership with the PSC, aiming for regular dialogue and resolution of any outstanding issues.

Both parties agreed to hold quarterly meetings to address concerns promptly and enhance efficiency in policing operations.

The newfound synergy between the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force signifies a positive step towards improved coordination and effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
