The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 7,194 Inspectors of Police to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP II). This announcement was made following the recently concluded Inspectors Board interview, conducted across all Police Zonal Command Headquarters in the country.
DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), Chairman of the Commission, congratulated the newly promoted officers and emphasized that their new ranks come with heightened responsibilities. He urged them to demonstrate greater commitment to their national duties, especially during this period of positive restructuring in Nigeria, which may be accompanied by temporary discomfort and public dissatisfaction.
DIG Argungu highlighted the importance of the officers’ roles in preserving the nation’s nascent democracy. He reassured that the PSC will continue to ensure timely and predictable promotions within the Nigeria Police Force. However, he also reminded the officers that this gesture should not be taken for granted, and they must conduct themselves within established laws, striving to eliminate banditry and terrorism.
Some of the promoted officers include Ejiogu Eunice, Tiedei Deizigha, Falade Kayode, Agorua Chinedu, Noel Atuwa, Simon Oguche, Mohammed Maikuma, Somalia Maisamari, A’aron Gama’Ă€iki, Adesina Bosede, Otoboh Theophilus, Olaifa Idowu, Abdullahi Yari, Labaran Musa, Benedict Mamman, and Gaiyu Sharafa.
