Police Service Commission Announces Major Appointments, Promotions, 1897 Senior Officers Elevated – AIG Dasuki Galadanci As DIG

In a significant move to fortify the Nigerian Police Force, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Dasuki Galadanci as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), along with the promotion of 1897 senior Police Officers.

One Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) was appointed, 1897 Senior Police Officers were promoted, 14 Assistant Inspector-Generals (AIG), 21 Deputy Commissioner to Commissioners, 20 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, 109 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners, 184 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents, and 1549 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents were appointed.

The newly appointed DIG, Dasuki Galadanci, currently in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, will represent the North West Geopolitical zone, succeeding the retiring DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje effective February 2, 2024.

Among the notable promotions, 14 Commissioners of Police have been elevated to the prestigious position of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG). However, one Commissioner’s promotion is pending review due to ongoing disciplinary matters.

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector General of Police, presided over the Management Meeting, granting anticipatory approval based on the recommendations of the Inspector General of Police.

Dr. Arase, during an interactive session with the promoted officers, emphasized the urgency of addressing the rising wave of criminal assaults, especially banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes. He urged the officers to familiarize themselves with crime trends, engage in predictive policing, and take responsibility for the nation’s security.

The press release further lists the names of officers promoted to various ranks, including Deputy Commissioners to Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, and Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners. The approval for these appointments and promotions has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for implementation.
