Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered a cache of incriminating items in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, following ongoing investigations into a kidnap and murder case.
According to the spokesperson of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the breakthrough came on June 3, 2025, after the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect, Ebuka Orizu, who is currently in custody. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives were led by the suspect to a location where they recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, eleven live cartridges, and two laptops.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect is a member of a criminal gang reportedly operating in Oraifite and its surrounding communities. The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently at large.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and curbing criminal activity across the state, assuring residents that decisive actions are being taken to dismantle criminal networks.
