After weeks of meticulous investigation, the Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended all eight members of two notorious syndicates wanted for a string of robberies and carjackings at gunpoint across Lagos State.
The arrests were made both within Lagos State and in coordinated operations in Iwo, Osun State, and Ibadan, Oyo State. The suspects, identified as Dayo Afolabi (27), Segun Osoyemi (32), Toheeb Adetunji (29), Tomiwa Okunlola (30), Bashiru Lukmon (22), Usman Hammed (25), Ashiru Usman (24), and Toheeb Oyekunle (32), are now in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
These individuals were also implicated in the heinous murder of a police officer and the theft of his rifle in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State on December 9, 2023. Fortunately, the rifle has been recovered along with other seized items, including a pump-action rifle, five locally-made pistols, thirty live cartridges, and assorted charms.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, has lauded the diligent efforts of the detectives involved in apprehending these criminals. He reassured the citizens of Lagos State that the Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring their safety, promising to continue deploying all available resources to combat crime and maintain law and order.
