In a proactive move towards bolstering the capabilities and efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force, the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Gaidam, CON, paid a working visit to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, 15th March 2024.
Accompanied by the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, fsi, and other key officials from the Ministry of Police Affairs, including the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Abdullahi Bala, the Honourable Minister reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the ongoing modernization and professionalization efforts within the Nigeria Police Force.
During the meeting, the Honourable Minister emphasized the imperative of equipping law enforcement personnel with state-of-the-art tools, comprehensive training, and adequate resources to effectively discharge their duties. He underscored the paramount importance of safeguarding the rights and safety of all citizens while upholding the rule of law.
In response, IGP Egbetokun assured the Minister of the Nigeria Police Force’s resolute dedication to transforming into a service-driven, people-friendly, and rule of law-compliant institution. He outlined various ongoing initiatives within the Force geared towards enhancing community engagement, fostering transparency, and promoting accountability.
Expressing gratitude for the constructive dialogue facilitated by the working visit, the Inspector General of Police stressed the critical need for seamless collaboration between the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Nigeria Police Force. He highlighted the importance of aligning strategies and pooling resources to achieve the shared objective of creating a safer and more secure society for all Nigerians.
