In a late-night operation on September 29, 2024, the Anambra State Police-led security force neutralized an armed secessionist in Aguata Local Government Area, recovering a cache of weapons and other incriminating items.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., the operatives were alerted to suspected armed men traveling in a black Prado Jeep along the Igbo Ukwu/Ezinifite Uga axis. Upon arrival, the security force engaged the armed men in a gunfight, neutralizing one of the suspects while the others managed to escape.

A search of the scene led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, two magazines loaded with live ammunition, fifteen live cartridges, and two police-armored vests. The black Prado Jeep, with two different license plates, was also seized along with additional items, including three face caps, a black handbag, and criminal charms.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, confirmed the incident and stated that clearance operations are ongoing, with more details to be communicated as investigations continue.

The swift action highlights the resolve of the security forces in combating secessionist threats and maintaining safety in the state.
