Police-Led Joint Security Force Arrests Four Suspected ESN Militia Members in Anambra State

In a significant operation, a Police-led Joint Security Force intercepted four suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) militia in Ufuma, Orumba North. This decisive action follows intelligence reports of planned attacks on security agents and innocent citizens by the secessionist group.

Among those arrested is Maduabuchi Nwafor, also known as Omenkpo, a 32-year-old native of Ufuma. Nwafor is alleged to be a native doctor who prepares criminal charms for the ESN and uses his shrine for initiation ceremonies and as a meeting point for the group. Another suspect, whose identity is being withheld, has confessed to being one of the gunmen dispatched by the group to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order on May 30, 2024, and is currently assisting the police with their investigation.

Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered a thorough investigation to identify and dismantle the hideouts of these insurgents. He assured the residents of Anambra State that the Police Command will continue to serve the people selflessly and will protect the sources of its information to ensure the safety of informers.
