The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that a shooting incident which occurred in Ukwulu on the evening of April 12, 2025, was the result of a violent disagreement between two siblings. Police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing one victim and preventing further escalation of the situation.
According to the spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operatives successfully arrested two suspects at the scene and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition. The injured victim, who sustained a gunshot wound, was promptly taken to a hospital and is reportedly responding to treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting stemmed from a long-standing dispute between the victim and one of the suspects, who is his brother. The suspect reportedly enlisted the help of another person during the incident.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. The police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
