As the festive season approaches, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified its efforts to curb criminal activities, resulting in significant successes in raids, arrests, and recoveries. This is part of proactive measures directed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, to ensure a secure holiday season for all citizens.
In Lagos State, police operatives conducted extensive raids on December 14, 2024, targeting criminal hideouts in the Isolo area. The operation led to the arrest of 43 suspects and the recovery of exhibits, including large quantities of cannabis, daggers, swords, and fetish items.
Similarly, on December 15, 2024, a suspect, Charles Orji, was apprehended in Isheri Osun, Lagos State, while attempting to steal a Toyota Hilux. Upon his arrest, seven different Toyota car keys were recovered, further linking him to other potential crimes.
Beyond Lagos, the Nigeria Police Force has ramped up security operations nationwide. States like Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Edo, Delta, Benue, and Niger have witnessed increased patrols, coordinated raids, and other security measures to deter criminal activities. These efforts have led to the arrest of 128 hoodlums, the recovery of dangerous weapons, and the prevention of various crimes, including car theft.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property during this critical period. He emphasized that the Police would remain vigilant and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest authorities.
As the Yuletide season gains momentum, the Nigeria Police Force assures the public of its readiness to maintain law and order, ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration for all Nigerians.
