    Police In Delta Capture 2 Suspects, Recover A Firearm, 104 Live Ammunition

    In a gunfight with police officers, one armed robbery suspect met his demise; two other people were taken into custody.

    One locally built gun, 104 live ammunition, and four used cartridges were collected during two separate operations that led to the discovery.

    A squad from Kwale Division led by the DPO CSP Godwin Igochie engaged some armed robbers in a shoot out during one of the robbery attacks, which is reported to have taken place along Jesus Avenue in the Umusadege sections of Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA.

    One of the hoodlums reportedly suffered a deadly gunshot wound during the scuffle, while the others managed to flee. One locally made gun, four live ammunition, and four spent cartridges were reportedly found on them. He was reported to have passed away later in the hospital while receiving treatment.

    The second incident reportedly involved four suspected thieves riding a motorcycle and the Anti Crime Patrol squad attached to “C” Division Asaba while they were performing a stop and search at the head-bridge Asaba.

    Our correspondent learned that 100 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammo for the AK-47 were concealed inside a black polythene bag when two of the suspects were apprehended.

    In connection with the incident, Delta State police detained Michael Reuben, 29 years of age, and Odemba Onochie, 30, both of Okoanala Oko in the Oshimili South LGA.

    The command has initiated a manhunt for the other evading suspects, while Investigation is ongoing, according to police public relations officer DSP Edafe Bright, who confirmed both occurrences in a release.

    According to the report, “On June 21, 2022, the DPO Kwale Division received a distress call reporting an armed robbery operation occurring along Jesus Avenue in the Umusadege quarters in Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA. The DPO Kwale Division CSP Godwin Igoche mobilized and led the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol team to the scene. The suspects, upon spotting the police, engaged them in a gun duel, during which one of

    During a stop-and-search operation at the head-bridge in Asaba, Delta State, on June 20, 2022, at or around 0830 hours, the Divisional Anti Crime Patrol team attached to “C” Division Asaba stopped an unregistered KC Sanya motorcycle carrying four men, including the rider, one of whom was holding a black polythene bag.

    When they saw the police, they got off the bike and ran. The officers gave them a vigorous pursuit, and two of the four suspects Michael Reuben, 29, and Odemba Onochie, 30, both of Okoanala Oko in the Oshimili South LGA of Delta State—were eventually apprehended. One of the suspects, Michael Reuben, was found to be carrying a black polythene bag with 100 (100) rounds of live 7.62MM AK 47 ammunition concealed inside. Manhunt for the other fleeing suspects is ongoing”.
