In a gunfight with police officers, one armed robbery suspect met his demise; two other people were taken into custody.
One locally built gun, 104 live ammunition, and four used cartridges were collected during two separate operations that led to the discovery.
A squad from Kwale Division led by the DPO CSP Godwin Igochie engaged some armed robbers in a shoot out during one of the robbery attacks, which is reported to have taken place along Jesus Avenue in the Umusadege sections of Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA.
One of the hoodlums reportedly suffered a deadly gunshot wound during the scuffle, while the others managed to flee. One locally made gun, four live ammunition, and four spent cartridges were reportedly found on them. He was reported to have passed away later in the hospital while receiving treatment.
The second incident reportedly involved four suspected thieves riding a motorcycle and the Anti Crime Patrol squad attached to “C” Division Asaba while they were performing a stop and search at the head-bridge Asaba.
Our correspondent learned that 100 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammo for the AK-47 were concealed inside a black polythene bag when two of the suspects were apprehended.
In connection with the incident, Delta State police detained Michael Reuben, 29 years of age, and Odemba Onochie, 30, both of Okoanala Oko in the Oshimili South LGA.
The command has initiated a manhunt for the other evading suspects, while Investigation is ongoing, according to police public relations officer DSP Edafe Bright, who confirmed both occurrences in a release.
