Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a stolen vehicle belonging to the victim in the Isuaniocha area of the state. The incident occurred on the evening of May 17, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugu-Ukwu responded swiftly to a distress alert after a five-man kidnapping gang operating in a black Toyota Corolla double-crossed and abducted a victim in Amatu village, Agulu.

The suspects fled the scene with the victim and his black Lexus 350 SUV. However, a technology-driven manhunt by the police forced the gang to abandon both the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha, where the victim was rescued unhurt.

SP Ikenga confirmed that the victim has since been debriefed and is in safe custody, while investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

“The operatives are working with the information obtained from the victim and have intensified surveillance in the area to ensure the arrest of the culprits and forestall any further criminal activity,” the statement read.

The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining the safety of lives and property, and encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies.
