The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has addressed recent media reports concerning the trial of Mr. Nnamdi Emeh, who is facing charges for alleged criminal offenses. In a press release issued on November 16, 2024, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF clarified that Mr. Emeh’s arrest and prosecution followed due legal procedures, emphasizing the independence of the judiciary in handling the case.
According to the statement, Mr. Emeh was apprehended based on credible allegations, which were thoroughly investigated before charges were filed against him. He was subsequently arraigned at the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State. The police noted that the suspect was granted bail under conditions set by the court, which remain his responsibility to meet.
The NPF highlighted the judiciary’s exclusive authority in evaluating evidence, setting bail conditions, and determining the course of legal proceedings. The statement further urged Mr. Emeh to focus on fulfilling his bail requirements rather than engaging in what the NPF described as “unnecessary media rampage.”
Reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law and professional conduct, the police assured the public that they investigate allegations impartially, including those involving their personnel, and ensure all suspects face the legal process.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its resolve to enforce the law impartially and to safeguard the rights of every individual as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution,” the statement read.
The police appealed to the public and media to avoid speculation or interference in the ongoing trial, emphasizing the importance of allowing the judiciary to operate without external pressure. They called on stakeholders to present information responsibly and allow the legal process to take its full course in the interest of justice.
As the trial continues, the NPF reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining professionalism in its operations.
