The Anambra State Police Command has debunked claims that the recent killing of some Ebonyi indigenes in the state was carried out by members of the Anambra community, stating that the incident was the handiwork of criminals.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police clarified that the perpetrators of the attack were criminals operating under the guise of the Ebonyi Town Union in Ogboji, located in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state.
“Ndi Anambra did not murder Ebonyi indigenes in the State. The culprits are criminals hiding under the umbrella of the good people of Ebonyi Town Union in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area that committed the cowardly act,” SP Ikenga stated.
He confirmed that one suspect has already been arrested in connection with the crime, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved.
“We already have one suspect in custody and shall definitely hunt others down,” he added.
The police reassured the public of their commitment to bringing all those responsible to justice while maintaining peace and security across the state.
