In a significant breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has apprehended Bello Mohammed, a 28-year-old suspect from Zamfara state, in Kaduna, for his involvement in the kidnapping and gruesome murder of Nabeeha, the daughter of Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a raid on a hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, resulting in the arrest of Bello Mohammed. The suspect was found in possession of ₦2.25 million, believed to be proceeds from ransoms collected in the area.
During interrogation, Bello confessed to being part of the gang responsible for the abduction of Barrister Ariyo’s family members and the subsequent killing of Nabeeha in a kidnappers’ camp in Kaduna on January 13, 2024.
In a surprising turn of events, the suspect attempted to offer ₦1,000,000 to induce the DPO, SP Idris Ibrahim, who steadfastly rejected the bribe, demonstrating unwavering commitment to duty.
IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered that the suspect, acknowledging his connection to the neutralized bandits in Kaduna led by Mai Gemu (aka Godara), be handed over to the Directorate of Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT) in Abuja for discreet investigations. The IRT had earlier eliminated five bandits associated with Mai Gemu, and their camp has been dismantled.
Commending the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for his dedication and professionalism, the IGP assured that the Police would spare no effort in eradicating criminal elements and ensuring a safer society for all Nigerians.
