Police Arrest Three Suspects For Disruptive Street Carnival In Shasha, Lagos


In a recent operation, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended three individuals in the Akowonjo area of Lagos for organizing a street carnival that violated existing laws governing public speaker usage in Lagos State.

Julius Osimirin, aged 43, Isiaka Kabiru, aged 16, and Ajewole Ajugba, aged 42, were taken into custody around 12:23 p.m. on Abatti Street, Shasha, where they were preparing for the unauthorized carnival event.

The arrest was a result of directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, to the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to ensure the enforcement of laws prohibiting such activities.

CP Fayoade had previously engaged with the carnival organizers, advising them to secure a suitable venue for their event and refrain from obstructing streets or causing disturbances to public peace.

The suspects are scheduled to face legal proceedings following the conclusion of ongoing investigations into the matter.
