Polaris Bank has reiterated its commitment to supporting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, trafficking, and money laundering across Nigeria and beyond.
The Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Kayode Lawal, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by a 15-member NDLEA management team to Polaris Bank’s corporate headquarters in Lagos last Wednesday.
Lawal noted that the partnership with NDLEA is built on shared values and social responsibility. “The essence of Polaris Bank is not just profitability but fulfilling a moral obligation to society,” he said. “Our collaboration with NDLEA underscores our commitment to combating crime and protecting our communities.”
Polaris Bank, a longstanding partner of the NDLEA, has actively supported the agency’s mission through the sponsorship of advocacy initiatives, media campaigns, and the provision of tools and infrastructure to aid operations.
In recognition of the Bank’s unwavering support, the NDLEA delegation decorated Mr. Lawal for his and the Bank’s contributions to the agency’s efforts. The Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer, Charles Oso, was also honored for his leadership in implementing robust compliance and anti-money laundering systems.
Leading the NDLEA team was the Director of Assets and Financial Investigation, who represented the Chairman/CEO of the agency, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Retired). He commended Polaris Bank’s sustained advocacy and support, particularly in aiding drug rehabilitation initiatives across the country.
According to the NDLEA, the agency has recorded significant strides under Marwa’s leadership through enforcement, advocacy, and support services, including the introduction of free toll lines for drug-related assistance.
The NDLEA praised Polaris Bank’s role in enhancing its operational effectiveness and strategic initiatives, describing the Bank as a key private sector ally in the fight against drug abuse and financial crimes.
Also present at the reception were Polaris Bank’s Executive Directors Chris Ofikulu, Abimbola Ozomah, and Sharafadeen Muhammed, who joined the Managing Director in welcoming the NDLEA delegation.
Polaris Bank, recognized as Nigeria’s Digital Bank of the Year from 2021 to 2024, continues to champion inclusive growth, community empowerment, and a safer society.
