Polaris Bank’s recent International Women’s Day (IWD) webinar, titled ‘Empowering Voices: Women Leading Change,’ served as a pivotal platform for thought-provoking discussions on women’s empowerment and inclusivity. Held on March 12, 2024, at the bank’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, the event garnered active participation from customers and staff alike.

The webinar, centered around the 2024 IWD theme “Inspire Inclusion,” shed light on the persistent obstacles hindering women’s equal participation in various facets of society, particularly in the economy. The esteemed panelists, drawn from diverse backgrounds, tackled essential topics ranging from self-esteem and mental wellness to workplace policies and inclusive health.

Ms. Solape Akinpelu, CEO and co-founder of HerVest, emphasized the imperative of inclusivity and urged concerted efforts to challenge societal narratives that undermine women’s capabilities. Dr. Ifeyinwa Nwakwesi, CEO of Healthy Living Services Nigeria Ltd., provided valuable insights on maintaining work-life balance and prioritizing women’s well-being, stressing their pivotal role in family health.

In his opening address, Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Kayode Lawal, underscored the indispensable contributions of women to societal progress and economic development. He reiterated the bank’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and empowers women to thrive.

Lawal echoed the global IWD 2024 theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” emphasizing the importance of cultivating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. He reaffirmed Polaris Bank’s dedication to providing a supportive work environment free from biases and discrimination.

Bukola Oluyadi, overseeing Sustainability at Polaris Bank, stressed the significance of recognizing and empowering women in the workplace, highlighting how appreciation and encouragement enhance their sense of value and contribution.

The webinar concluded with a resounding call to action for all stakeholders to prioritize inclusivity and collaborate towards creating equitable opportunities for women across all spheres of life.
