Athletes and Coaches of Taekwondo games have been commended for good work and dedication as discipline exhibited at the just concluded South East under 18 National Taekwondo Poomsae Competition featuring the Kiddies, Cadet and Junior Categories which was held on Saturday 21/8/2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu and which was proudly supported by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).
The Commendation was made by the Enugu state Chairman of Taekwondo Board CSP Ebere Amaraizu while reacting on the essence of the event.
He also commended the uplifting Spirit of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Chika Chukwumerije an Olympic Medalist who donated several Taekwondo training Kits to States at the occassion to boost their taekwondo Practice and discovery of young fresh talent of the boy and girl child from the region for National, African and International Competition.
According to Amaraizu who also is the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) a community driven program and Public Relations Tool of the Nigeria Police Force aimed at sensitizing different Stakeholders and especially Young minds on the dangers of cultism, Substance and Drug abuse, Violent Behaviours and other vices, maintained that POCACOV is in strong partnership and the use of Taekwondo game because of its uncompromising tenets of Modesty, Hardwork, Indomitable Spirit, Perseverance, Discipline and Self Defence for the girl Child.
The Tenets of Taekwondo will help to expose our young minds to the realities of life involving hard work, Honesty, Integrity, hard Work, indomitable Spirit to face challenges and to discover themselves for a greater future.
Amaraizu expressed optimism and further noted that Modules developed by the POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu will engender a platform of Cohesion and stronger Networking that will help in promoting the game of Taekwondo at the grass root as earlier stated by Olympic Medalist Chika Chukwumerije.
He revealed that there will be POCACOV Taekwondo Talent Search as a platform for self discovery, deepen POCACOV Campaign Message and the Game of Taekwondo at the grass roots across the country.
This will also serve as a tonic towards sustaining the gains and successes recorded at the just concluded event and towards making it stand the taste of time and live to the billing. It is also going to be in form of Mini Championship for Value Reorientation, Self Discovery and Strategic Leadership direction at the grass root Levels cutting across deeply our various Neigbourhoods (OGBE”).
“It will help Young minds to remain Positive thereby helping in cutting the supply Chains and Conveyor Belts of Young minds involvement in Cultism, Substance and Drug Abuse, Violent Behaviours and other vices.
We are Community driven and with our broad network of stakeholders and Ambassadors as well as Volunteers/POCACOV NYSC Community Development Service Scheme as well as the police community relations committee members, we will be able to record huge success in our community engagement programme of POCACOV TAEKWONDO TALENT SEARCH.
At the Just Concluded South East under 18 National Taekwondo Poomsae Competition, Enugu Eagles came out first with 13 gold Medals,18 Silver Medals and 18 Bronze Medals, Anambra came second with 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, no bronze medal, while Abia State won 3 gold medals, no silver and 1 Bronze.
